Ex-Chelsea defender Nathan Ake completed a move to Manchester City on Wednesday – and some Blues fans on Twitter are concerned that their former player could become a big success at the Etihad Stadium.

Man City signed the centre-back from Bournemouth for £41million (Sky Sports) and he leaves them following their relegation from the Premier League.

The 25-year-old was previously on the academy books at Chelsea and was shipped out on several loans away from Stamford Bridge, before he joined Bournemouth permanently in 2017.

Chelsea did have a buy-back clause of £40million (Football.London) to bring him back to West London, but Frank Lampard’s side have passed on that and are linked with plenty of other centre-backs.

Ake has made a name for himself in recent years as a quality performer in the Premier League and is a left-footed defender that is comfortable in possession.

The Dutchman was unable to keep Bournemouth in the top-flight, but the 2018/19 Premier League champions Man City have splashed out to add him to their squad.

A selection of Chelsea supporters on social media believe the club may have missed a trick by letting Ake go and feel he could still achieve great things.

The club have seen the likes of Kevin De Bruyne, Mohamed Salah and Romelu Lukaku all achieve big things after exiting Stamford Bridge.
