Chelsea fans react to reported interest in Manchester United teenager Angel Gomes

Chelsea are reportedly interested in trying to sign Manchester United youngster Angel Gomes in the summer – but some of the club’s fans on Twitter aren’t too keen on a move for him.

According to the Metro, the Blues want to land the 19-year-old at the end of the season when he’s set to be available on a free transfer.

It is understood that Premier League rivals United have offered him around £25,000-a-week to stay at Old Trafford, but the player’s representatives are unimpressed with the potential deal and have shown “little encouragement” that he will pen a new contract.

The report states that United are “desperate” to keep the attacking midfielder, but his situation means Chelsea are keen to swoop in.

WAYNE ROONEY TO EVERTON IS A JOKE.

Chelsea are reportedly willing to match United’s contract offer, plus offer him a first-team role at Stamford Bridge for next season.

Manager Frank Lampard is believed to be an admirer of the United teenager and he’s shown this season that he’s prepared to throw youngsters into the mix, with Billy Gilmour the latest star to feel the benefits of that.

Gomes is a highly-rated talent at United that has been widely spoken about in recent years as a major talent and he’s impressed at youth level.

The England Under-20 international is a diminutive figure that can play in a wide role or a creative number 10 position, where he’s got a low centre of gravity and the quality in possession going forward.

He’s played 10 first-team games for United to date, but can’t seem to find a regular spot in the main group this campaign and is watching some of his teammates leapfrog him.

A selection of Chelsea are concerned that the United talent isn’t on the standard as some of the club’s current young stars and don’t believe he’s needed in the summer.

Here are some Blues fans on the Gomes speculation:
