Chelsea academy graduate Tariq Lamptey is reportedly in discussions with French team Lille – and some of the club’s supporters on Twitter believe it’s the right thing for him to seek a Stamford Bridge exit.

According to the Sun, the Blues right-back is “locked in talks” with Ligue 1 outfit Lille about a potential move at the end of the season.

It is understood that Frank Lampard’s team have been trying to extend the 19-year-old’s current deal, but he’s refused to sign and it’s due to expire in the summer.

The report explains that the Englishman is free to sign a pre-contract agreement this month.

Lamptey is yet another rising star to have come through the youth ranks at Chelsea and has been extremely successful with the younger groups.

The defender has played three first-team games as he’s eased in by manager Lampard, but it looks like he wants to try make a serious breakthrough elsewhere.

He is a speed machine that lives to drive forward from full-back and looks a quality player, but Chelsea have 20-year-old Reece James starting to make the right-back spot his own in the senior XI.

It looks like nobody will be able to dislodge the Rolls-Royce defender anytime soon and that’s made Lamptey consider his future to potentially lie elsewhere.

There has been such a brilliant injection of talent from the academy to the first-team in recent times, but it appears like they may lose out on one.
