Lamptey is a highly popular figure to come through the academy system at Chelsea and was extremely successful at youth level.

The right-back was handed his senior debut this season by Frank Lampard and managed three first-team appearances, but he’s decided to go elsewhere to continue his development.

He’s a full-back blessed with rapid pace and great athleticism, but another academy graduate Reece James appears to have the right-back locked down for the long-term.

Lamptey’s Premier League debut came when he impressed off the bench in an away victory against Arsenal and he will now hope for plenty more games like that.

Brighton have certainly bagged themselves a rising talent with a big future and unfortunately he’s one that has slipped through the Chelsea net.

He was refusing to sign a new deal at Stamford Bridge with his contract due to expire in the summer, but he’s left midway through the season to Brighton.
