Diego Costa has been linked with a move to Premier League outfit Tottenham – and some Chelsea fans on Twitter have responded by pleading the club’s ex-striker doesn’t join their London rivals.

According to the Daily Star, Atletico Madrid are willing to sell the 31-year-old this summer and Spurs have been offered the chance to sign him.

With the Spain international reaching the final year of his contract with La Liga side Atletico, they are prepared to let him go and Benfica are also mentioned as potential suitors.

Spurs already have former Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho in charge at their club and a Stamford Bridge reunion with Costa could end up being on the cards, if they decide to take up the offer to sign him.

Mourinho signed Costa for Chelsea back in 2014 from Atletico, he rejoined them three years later after becoming a huge fan favourite at the Bridge.

The bullish centre-forward won two Premier League titles and one League Cup during his Blues spell, with his aggressive nature and clinical finishing making him a perfect fit for English football.

He scored 58 goals and supplied 24 assists in 120 Chelsea appearances, but he’s seen his form dip in the past couple of seasons since his Atletico return due to a spate of injuries.

A selection of Blues supporters on social media have insisted they would hate to see Costa line up in the colours of rivals Spurs and would prefer for him not to return to England.
