Chelsea have a reported interest in Lille forward Victor Osimhen – and some of the club’s supporters on Twitter have responded with delight to the speculation.
Sky Sports reports that Frank Lampard’s side are eyeing the Ligue 1 striker, while Liverpool and Tottenham are also monitoring the youngster.
The report details that the 20-year-old is expected to stick with Lille for the rest of the season to help his progress and that it would take a major offer to tempt the French outfit into selling their talisman in the January transfer window.
Osimhen has been in brilliant form this campaign for Lille and managed 12 goals in 23 matches in all competitions.
The centre-forward powered in a header against Chelsea during this season’s Champions League group stage campaign, but the Blues did manage to edge Lille out by 2-1 scorelines both home and away.
He’s a speed machine that can be too hot for defenders to handle and there has been a real confidence about him in the final third.
There are similarities between him and current Blues forward Tammy Abraham, which is why it would be intriguing to see them both competing at some stage in the same team.
Osimhen’s reputation is already beginning to rise following attention from Premier League teams, but it seems like he will see it out with Lille at least until the end of the season and he’s under contract with them until 2024.
The Nigeria international has four goals in eight senior caps for his country too and is a big talent to watch out for.
