Earlier this week, it was reported that Chelsea’s scouts would be watching Mika Godts as Ajax hosted Dutch rivals PSV. Now, those scouts might be thinking he could be Chelsea’s next Eden Hazard.
Ahead of the game, 20-year-old Belgian winger Godts had attracted interest from some of Europe’s elite clubs due to his Ajax form. A massive 29 goals and assists during 2025-26 has caught Chelsea’s eye.
Rightly so. Godts has created more chances in the Eredivisie than any other player, totalling a whopping 79 this season. Chelsea opted to send their talent spotters to watch the former Genk player on Saturday.
If Enzo Fernandez leaves, we should be all over Bernardo Silva 🤩
He's set to be available on a free transfer this summer!
They were not the only ones, with Arsenal and Barcelona scouts also in attendance. Godts might have been aware that they were in attendance, and certainly, he turned it on for Ajax against PSV Eindhoven.
Godts shines as Ajax steal late point against PSV Eindhoven
With Chelsea officials watching on, Godts got an assist as Ajax equalised shortly after PSV’s first-minute goal. His quick pass into Anton Gaaei allowed the defender to shoot from 20 yards into the corner.

PSV would take the lead on 77 minutes and look as though they were going to win the game, only for Godts to take matters into his own hands. Cutting inside from the left flank, he found a teammate.
Another effort from Gaaei was parried to the edge of the area, where Godts was waiting. A gorgeous left-footed volley that nestled into the bottom corner in the 92nd minute, sending the Ajax fans into raptures.
The new Eden Hazard?

Comparisons with Eden Hazard and matching Lamine Yamal stats
It’s not just his goals and assists, which have stretched to 31 for the season after Saturday’s outing. It is his overall play, his ability to go past a man and the magic to produce something out of nothing.
This is a poor Ajax side, but he is a jewel in the crown. Roughly 5ft 9in, yet robust, there have been comparisons with Eden Hazard, given that the winger is from Belgium and producing huge numbers.
During his time at Chelsea, Hazard was often the most-fouled player in the Premier League and right now, Godts is that in the Eredivisie. The right-footed left winger, it is easy to see similarities between the two.
So, Chelsea are scouting what could turn out to be their next Hazard. He sits in elite company, one of three players to complete 70 take-ons and create 70 chances – alongside Kenan Yildiz and Lamine Yamal.
Chelsea might have a huge amount of wingers, especially with Geovany Quenda joining, but when it comes to Godts, that is irrelevant. The Belgian would be a stunning signing, and a future game-changer.
