Chelsea already seem to have made their mind up on where one player will be playing his football next season.

Cesare Casadei is highly regarded at Chelsea, according to The Athletic.

The midfielder started the season out on loan at Leicester City but was recalled during the January transfer window.

However, despite that happening and the club valuing the player, The Athletic’s report claims that Casadei is still expected to go out on loan again in the summer.

Since returning to Chelsea, the 21-year-old has only played 17 minutes of football in the Premier League, so it makes sense. There are now said to be fears that his development could stall.

Cesare Casadei expected to leave Chelsea on loan again

Letting Casadei join another club for the 2024/25 season would be the wise thing to do.

Right now, the Italian is just not going to get any real game time at Chelsea. Moises Caicedo, Enzo Fernandez and Conor Gallagher are all ahead of him in the pecking order at Stamford Bridge.

After one recent match, Mauricio Pochettino admitted that Caicedo, Fernandez and Gallagher were all tired. Nevertheless, the Argentine still overlooked Casadei, who did at least get some minutes against Newcastle United on Monday.

If the former Inter Milan youth player is not going to get used when Caicedo, Fernandez and Gallagher need resting, then when is he? The odd Carabao Cup or FA Cup game probably.

Really, then, Chelsea should have left him at Leicester for the rest of the season, where the Italy U21 international made 25 appearances.

Nothing can be done now, however. Casadei just has to hope that Pochettino will give him the odd opportunity every now and then.

The former Paris Saint-Germain and Tottenham Hotspur boss was obviously worried about the amount of injuries his midfielders were picking up, but Casadei has returned and has not really filled in for anyone. It shows that Chelsea could have afforded for him to remain at Leicester.
