Chelsea still seem to be huge admirers of Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi despite selling him in 2021.

Chelsea have been tracking Marc Guehi‘s progress and development since he left Stamford Bridge for Selhurst Park, according to football.london.

The same outlet has also claimed that the 23-year-old is now an option for the Blues as they look to strengthen their defence.

At the end of November, TEAMtalk reported that Palace valued Guehi at £60m.

Thiago Silva has still not signed a new contract yet. His potential exit this summer could open up room for another centre-back like Guehi. Sporting Lisbon’s Ousmane Diomande is another player who has been linked with a move to Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea tracking Marc Guehi’s progress since his exit

Chelsea never sold Guehi because he was a bad defender. He was allowed to go because the Blues could not find room for him in their squad.

Heading into the 2021/22 season, Thomas Tuchel had Antonio Rudiger, Thiago Silva, Andreas Christensen, Cesar Azpilicueta, Trevoh Chalobah and Malang Sarr as his centre-back options.

Guehi was not going to get game time at Stamford Bridge, so it made sense for him to join another side. But that never meant he was not good enough to play for Chelsea.

Clearly the club felt that way as they continue to track him.

Guehi is such a key player for Palace; they will not want to sell the England international. He has missed just one game in the Premier League for Roy Hodgson’s side this season and has captained them on a few occasions.

However, the chance to return to Chelsea, who are still one of the biggest clubs in the world despite their recent struggles, may be too hard for Guehi to turn down and he may end up pushing for a move back to west London.
