Chelsea have just held talks about signing Arsenal’s Folarin Balogun this summer.

That is according to a report from The Daily Mail.

They claim that Chelsea held discussions on Friday over a deal to sign Arsenal attacker Folarin Balogun.

It is understood that the Blues face competition from Monaco and Fulham for the 22-year-old striker, who’s valued at £50million by the Gunners.

The report adds that Fulham are not prepared to bid higher than £35million for the United States international, though.

Chelsea may have held talks over Balogun yesterday, but the transfer speculation surrounding his possible exit from the Emirates Stadium has been circulating all window.

Sky Sports recently reported that Balogun has made it clear that he wants Arsenal to sell him before the summer transfer window closes in a couple of weeks. They added that Monaco and Inter Milan are potential buyers for him, too.

It looks like the path is blocked for him at Arsenal to break into the Gunners line-up, so he’s desperate for a permanent move elsewhere to find regular football.

Described as “something special” by Gunners manager Mikel Arteta (Arsenal’s official website), Balogun is such an exciting young talent.

His season-long loan at French top-flight club Reims last year was a massive success, scoring 22 goals in 39 appearances across all competitions.

However, we’re not convinced Chelsea should go and splash £50million on another emerging youngster.

The Blues currently have Nicolas Jackson and Armando Broja in their squad as two young and hungry No 9s that want to lead the line. If Mauricio Pochettino insisted on another striker, we would prefer a high-profile one with a long record of scoring consistently.
