Chelsea have now made a €25m (£21m) bid for Elye Wahi as Mauricio Pochettino sets his sights on the Montpellier striker.
That is according to Mohamed Toubache-Ter.
So, what is the situation involving Elye Wahi and Chelsea? Let’s take a look…
What’s the story?
Well – according to Fabrizio Romano – Chelsea were “getting closer” to signing the Frenchman earlier this week as negotiations with Montpellier progressed well.
Those talks have seemingly continued to be productive, as Chelsea have now formalised their interest with a bid.
Respected journalist Toubache-Ter believes the Blues have offered Montpellier £21m for Wahi, who put his name up in lights last season when scoring 19 goals in Ligue 1.
The France Under-21 international, who has been called a “powerful, athletic and fast player” by Francis de Taddeo, outscored both Neymar and Lionel Messi in hitting that total.

Wahi is believed to be keen on joining Chelsea – according to L’Equipe – although he will have to wait for his chance to shine in west London.
The aforementioned Romano – one of the most reliable journalists around – believes Chelsea are going to send the 20-year-old out on loan once he is officially signed.
Chelsea need to get their priorities straight as Elye Wahi deal nears
While Wahi is a tremendous prospect and a potential star of the future, Chelsea have to start bringing some experienced footballers to Stamford Bridge.
According to The Times, Mauricio Pochettino is becoming quite concerned at the lack of seniority in his squad, and is also frustrated at the lack of incomings this summer.
Chelsea have only signed two players in Nicolas Jackson and Angelo Gabriel – who are just 22 and 18 respectively.

The Argentine has every right to be annoyed – Chelsea have done well to sell plenty of deadwood for decent fees this summer, although more has to be done in regards to incomings.
Hopefully, Pochettino gets what he wants before deadline day, or else the 2023/24 campaign could prove to be another tough one for Chelsea.
