Chelsea have submitted a bid to sign Montpellier attacker Elye Wahi, but they’re still some way short of his asking price.
That is according to journalist Fabrice Hawkins.
They claim that Chelsea have made an opening offer worth €30million (£26million) for Elye Wahi.
However, Ligue 1 side Montpellier are asking for €40million (£35million) to sell their rising star.

RMC Sport journalist Hawkins has explained that Chelsea, West Ham, Fulham and Eintracht Frankfurt all want to sign the Montpellier centre-forward.
Hawkins wrote on Twitter: “Chelsea, West Ham, Fulham and Frankfurt are interested in Elye Wahi.
“In recent days the Germans insist on convincing the player.
“Chelsea made a first offer of €30million including bonus.
“Montpellier wants about €40million.”

Described as “powerful, athletic and fast player” by Francis de Taddeo, Wahi is an upcoming talent now on Chelsea’s radar. They’re currently £9million away with their bid from his valuation, though.
The French striker scored 19 goals and made six assists in 33 Ligue 1 appearances across all competitions last season.
Does Mauricio Pochettino really need another frontman in his squad?
They currently have Nicolas Jackson and Armando Broja as frontline strikers. In addition, versatile attacker Christopher Nkunku can lead the line.
