Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher is a player the club could yet keep hold of.
Conor Gallagher‘s contract is running down and journalist Ben Jacobs recently claimed via Substack that the 23-year-old is up for sale with Chelsea valuing him at £50m.
However, Matt Law of The Telegraph has told the London Is Blue podcast that he does not think Chelsea are actively looking to get rid of Gallagher.
If the Blues do go on to keep hold of the Englishman, Mauricio Pochettino would probably be delighted.
Gallagher has been a key player for him this season, captaining Chelsea in the absence of Reece James and Ben Chilwell. Pochettino, though, has admitted his player’s future is between him and the club.
Conor Gallagher not up for sale
While Law thinks Chelsea would consider certain offers for Gallagher, he has suggested that the England international is not actually up for sale.
The journalist said: “The club are being really coy on this and contacts and sources are being really coy on this, but just trying to join some dots of conversations I’ve had, this is how I see the situation. I don’t think Conor Gallagher is up for sale in January.
“I think at one stage in the summer he was up for sale, so I think there’s a difference there. I think because of his contract, there are probably figures where the club feel they would have to look at it, but I don’t think that they’re actively going out looking for those figures.”

Conor Gallagher should not be up for sale
During the summer, it would have made sense to sell Gallagher. The club signed Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia, who joined a side already possessing Enzo Fernandez.
Gallagher could have easily found himself surplus to requirements, while he should have been able to bring in a lot of money.
The midfielder is an England international with quite a bit of Premier League experience now after all.
However, the Blues have had so many injuries this season, resulting in Gallagher coming into the team, where he has been able to make such an impact.
He was just named WhoScored‘s Man of the Match for Chelsea’s triumph over Newcastle United in the quarter-finals of the Carabao Cup.
From what Gallagher has shown this term, it would be utter madness to sell him in the upcoming transfer window.
