Chelsea insiders believe Andrey Santos could prove to be one of the best signings of the entire Todd Boehly era.

That is according to the Daily Mail.

So, what was written about Andrey Santos and Chelsea in full? Let’s take a look…

What’s the story?

Well, the Brazilian was signed from Vasco da Gama back in January for £18m.

However, Chelsea were forced to loan Santos back to the Brazilian side due to the fact he could not obtain a work permit.

Now – however – the South American wonderkid is eligible to receive a work permit, and those at Stamford Bridge certainly sound excited by his potential.

The Daily Mail explain how Chelsea insiders believe Santos could prove to be one of the best signings of last summer, which speaks volumes given the fact he has not even trained in west London, let alone played any games.

In truth, the fact Chelsea spent £18m on the 19-year-old means the above pretty much goes without saying.

Santos – who Mauricio Pochettino plans to keep a close eye on over the summer – has only ever made 49 senior appearances at club level, although there is clearly a firm belief that he can become a superstar.

What Andrey Santos can bring to Chelsea

In our view, Santos can provide a serious goal threat from midfield for Chelsea.

The teenager has netted nine goals in his 49 appearances for Vasco da Gama, which is a solid return for a central midfielder, roughly averaging one goal every five games.

Santos boasts an even better record at international level.

In 11 appearances for the Brazil Under-20 side, the central midfielder has netted six goals.

Of course, we aren’t expecting Santos to immediately become Frank Lampard 2.0 at Stamford Bridge, although he is clearly capable of arriving into the final third and troubling opposition goalkeepers.

With Enzo Fernandez and – potentially – Moises Caicedo behind him in midfield, Santos could have the foundations needed to make a huge impact at Chelsea.
