Chelsea are now looking at signing Bayern Munich’s Jamal Musiala.

That is according to well-respected journalist Fabrizio Romano.

Jamal Musiala, who spent most of his youth development in Chelsea’s academy, has made a name for himself at Bayern Munich since he joined them in 2019.

Now, the 20-year-old attacking midfielder is regarded by many as one of the best young prospects in the sport.

Despite his youth, he’s already a four-time Bundesliga champion and a Champions League winner.

Fabrizio Romano, who’s called Musiala ‘one of the best talents in the world’, has detailed an update on the future of Bayern’s super talent.

Apparently, the German heavyweights do still want to extend the playmaker’s contract, which currently ends in the summer of 2026.

However, there’s now a lot of interest from across Europe in the youngster. This includes Premier League duo Chelsea and Manchester City, both of whom are keeping a close eye.

Romano said via his YouTube channel this week: “What I wanted to say is that at the moment Jamal Musiala’s contract expires in 2026, and there is still no agreement with Bayern to extend the contract. Why? Because the discussion was with the old management of Bayern, then the management changed and it’s still changing. This is why the timing of the extension changed. For Bayern, it is an absolute priority. They know that other clubs will be in the race.

“Many important clubs around Europe are keeping eyes on Musiala. Clubs in Spain, in England… People at Manchester City and Chelsea have been keeping an eye on Musiala as he’s one of the best talents in the world.”

Musiala’s ceiling may be as high as any youngster in the world right now, so we expect a crazy scramble for his signature if a move away from Munich did ever become realistic.

Chelsea legend John Terry previously described Musiala as “absolutely sensational” and a “superstar”, as quoted by beIN SPORTS (27/11/22 at 8:55 pm).

It’s horrible to think he’s yet another gem who’s slipped through the net at Stamford Bridge.

Well-respected journalist Simon Phillips reported via his Substack recently that Chelsea probably could have kept hold of Musiala in 2019 if they had offered him a better deal.
