Chelsea make last-minute move to hijack Bayern Munich’s signing of Premier League wonderkid, ‘set to sign’

Chelsea have not been afraid to rival some of the best clubs in Europe for signings in recent years, and the Blues look to have pipped Bayern Munich to a very promising talent.

Todd Boehly and co have been very keen to sign future stars since they took over as owners of the club, and now after three years we are about to see the fruits of their labour.

Estevao Willian and Andrey Santos will make their Premier League debuts for Chelsea last season, with plenty of excitement over the duo.

Barcelona were gutted to miss out on Santos, while PSG thought they were going to get Estevao before the Blues jumped in.

Chelsea hijack Bayern Munich’s move for Jesse Derry

One of the most promising youngsters set to be on the move this summer is Jesse Derry, who is currently a Crystal Palace player.

Derry has previously been on Chelsea’s radar, however it looked as if Bundesliga champions Bayern were set to sign the winger.

However, The Chelsea Spot have claimed that the Blues have come in at the last minute to hijack the move, and the youngster is now West London-bound.

They said: “We understand that while Jesse Derry was set to join Bayern Munich amidst interest from other Champions League clubs, Chelsea swooped in late last week and are now set to sign the England U19 international.”

The future of the attack at Stamford Bridge is already a lot brighter after the additions of Joao Pedro and Jamie Gittens this summer, however the signing of Derry is one that could set them up for well over a decade.

Who is Jesse Derry?

An England U19 international, Derry has made his mark at three different age groups for the national team already in his career.

He enjoyed a tremendous goalscoring campaign in the U18 Premier League last season, and contributed as many goal contributions as games he had played.

The youngster has featured on both wings already for Palace, fitting into the category of versatile which is what Enzo Maresca is looking for in his first team squad.

Expect Derry to feature predominantly for the youth side at Cobham, or even make a switch on loan before he is given the chance to feature at Stamford Bridge.
