Chelsea may be prepared to step up their interest soon in signing Southampton midfielder Romeo Lavia.
That is according to Sky Sports journalist Dharmesh Sheth.
Romeo Lavia, whose Southampton team were relegated from the Premier League last season, is strongly linked with a move away from St Mary’s during this summer transfer window.
Sky Sports recently claimed that Southampton have rejected a couple of bids so far from Liverpool for £50million-rated Lavia.
Now, there’s suggestions that Chelsea could enter the running for the 19-year-old player.

Journalist Dharmesh Sheth has explained that Chelsea are “very keen” on signing Lavia after weeks of transfer links to him.
Apparently, Mauricio Pochettino’s side may be willing to ramp up interest and submit an opening bid in the near future.
Sheth told Sky Sports: “Liverpool will have competition as well. Because they won’t be the only club interested in Romeo Lavia. We understand that Chelsea are very keen on Romeo Lavia. They haven’t gone all-out with the bidding process yet. Liverpool have made their intentions clear by bidding for Romeo Lavia. We expect at some point Chelsea to formalise their interest in Lavia by maybe going in with a bid for the Southampton midfielder. But it should be said that with Liverpool and Chelsea, personal terms with Lavia are not expected to be a problem with either club.”

In our view, Lavia’s a great option for Chelsea in this transfer window.
The teenager really impressed last year in the Premier League as an all-action defensive midfielder who can break up play and also distribute well on the ball from a No 6 position.
He certainly fits the mould of what the Blues are building right now, so we wouldn’t be shocked to see interest in the Belgian star ramp up.
