Recently loaned out Chelsea player Danny Drinkwater has shared a picture with Leicester City’s Ben Chilwell amid transfer rumours linking the defender to a move to Stamford Bridge.
The 23-year-old has reportedly been on top of Chelsea manager Frank Lampard’s summer shortlist for the left-back position (The Telegraph).
He featured in 27 out of the 38 games Leicester played in the Premier League this season, despite missing the last five games due to a thigh injury.
The fact that they had just one win in those five games suggests that the Foxes missed their first-choice fullback.
Amid all those rumours about Chilwell’s potential move to West London, one of Chelsea’s loanees teased the Blues fans as he provided his “scout report” about the England international, his former Foxes teammate.
Drinkwater, who spent second half of the season on loan at Aston Villa, posted a picture of him alongside Chilwell on his Instagram with the location given as the Greek island of Mykonos.
The most interesting part is that he also added a caption saying: “Summer scouting mission! Great guy and some footballer too.”
Leicester manager Brendan Rodgers has previously spoken about his desire to keep Chilwell beyond summer.
Asked whether Chilwell has played his last game for Leicester, Rodgers told Sky Sports last month: “I’m not sure. He’s a Leicester player and not one that we want to lose so I’m quite relaxed on it.
“We’ve got a fantastic squad and one that we want to keep together.
“There’s no intention to sell Ben Chilwell and absolutely no need to sell. The message is: He’s not for sale.”
