Chelsea are now considering a late move to bring Joao Felix back to Stamford Bridge before Friday’s transfer deadline.

That is according to 90min.

So, what is the latest on Joao Felix and Chelsea? Let’s take a look…

What’s the story?

Well, the Portugal international spent the second half of the 2022/23 campaign on loan at Chelsea, where he impressed.

Felix scored four goals in 16 Premier League appearances, and was a rare bright spot in an otherwise miserable season for Chelsea.

Now – however – the Portuguese wonderkid could be coming back to west London.

90min believe Chelsea are thinking about bringing Felix back after Christopher Nkunku suffered a serious knee injury, and the Blues are said to have remained in talks with his agent throughout the summer.

The story adds that the 23-year-old enjoyed living in London and would consider a return, despite publicly stating that Barcelona are his preferred destination.

As things stand, the Spanish giants currently have Ansu Fati, Ferran Torres, Raphinha, Robert Lewandowski and the emerging Lamine Yamal, so Xavi does not seem to have room for Felix.

90min add that a number of key figures in the boardroom at Chelsea believe the £241,165-a-week man is the type of forward Pochettino is looking for, despite sources claiming that it was the Argentine who did not want Felix signed permanently.

It is also said that Atlético Madrid are likely to entertain another loan deal at this stage of the transfer window as they try to offload the unwanted forward, which could work out for Chelsea given the fact Nkunku is expected to return in December.

Chelsea should move for Joao Felix

In our view, another loan deal should be a no-brainer for Chelsea.

Felix managed to shine under both Graham Potter and Frank Lampard, both of whom struggled to get a tune out of the side in general.

Therefore, just imagine how effective the Portuguese sensation could be under Pochettino in a proper attacking setup.

If Felix fails, then it’s only a loan and he can be sent back to Spain.

However – as long as Chelsea negotiate a sensible option to buy – it could prove to be a masterstroke if he delivers the goods under Pochettino.
