AS Roma star Tammy Abraham is one striker who Chelsea are considering signing.

That is according to a report from TEAMtalk.

It claims that Tammy Abraham is one name on the Blues’ shortlist of forward targets as they look to strengthen in that area of the pitch.

A move to Chelsea in January or next summer would see the 25-year-old return to Stamford Bridge after his departure from there in 2021.

Thomas Tuchel allowed Abraham to join Roma in a £34m deal after signing Romelu Lukaku.

Cheaper than Ivan Toney

While Chelsea may have some interest in Abraham, Toney looks like he will be their main target in the new year.

As per the Evening Standard, Chelsea are ready to go toe-to-toe with Arsenal for the Brentford man’s signature.

However, the same outlet has stated that the Bees could ask for up to £80m for the 27-year-old.

It is a lot of money and if Chelsea do not want to pay that, perhaps Abraham could be a cheaper alternative for them.

Roma’s valuation of Abraham is not quite clear, but The Athletic claims that his former club can re-sign him for around £69m thanks to a buy-back clause.

Money has not been a problem for Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital since they took over Chelsea, though, so it would be a bit of a surprise if they baulked at Toney’s price tag. If you can spend over £100m on a midfielder, then £80m on a forward who is capable of winning you games is nothing.
