Chelsea are now demanding £50m for Trevoh Chalobah after Bayern Munich and Thomas Tuchel made an approach for his signature.

That is according to the Evening Standard.

So, what is the latest on Trevoh Chalobah at Chelsea? Let’s take a look…

What’s the story?

Well, the Chelsea No.14 has not even been named on the bench by Mauricio Pochettino in any of the opening three Premier League outings.

The Evening Standard believe Chalobah is keen on a move to Bayern Munich as a result of his situation at Stamford Bridge.

Tuchel has made a loan bid for the 24-year-old, although Chelsea rejected that offer.

The Blues are demanding £50m for the Freetown-born defender, a sum which has now put potential suitors off a deal for Chalobah.

Chelsea are only looking for a permanent sale rather than a loan, and the England Under-21 international is someone Pochettino would be willing to cash in on after leaving him out so far this season.

The Argentine has pushed Chalobah further down the pecking order by signing Axel Disasi, while Levi Colwill was also promoted ahead of his fellow Chelsea academy graduate after an outstanding loan spell at Brighton.

Chelsea surely have to lower Trevoh Chalobah fee

In our view, it would be unfair to price Chalobah out of a move by demanding £50m.

Pochettino clearly has no use for the defender having left him out of his three Premier League matchday squads so far, so it would be best to entertain negotiations with Bayern Munich.

As talented as Chalobah is, £50m seems to be quite a lofty asking price, and clubs are understandably not interested in doing business for that fee.

Hopefully, that £50m demand is simply Chelsea testing the waters and seeing how interested sides react.

Ultimately, if Chelsea can even receive £30m for Chalobah – netting 100% profit along the way given his status as an academy graduate – it would be excellent business.
