Chelsea reportedly have a much better chance of signing Fulham’s Joao Palhinha after new developments.

Joao Palhinha, who’s aged 28, is a real talisman for Premier League and London rivals Fulham.

TEAMtalk recently claimed that Palhinha’s agents have already spoken with Chelsea as they look to secure their client a big move in the New Year. TEAMtalk noted on a separate occasion that the Fulham midfielder would cost around £60million to sign in January.

The latest update this week indicates that the Blues are better placed to bring the Portugal international to Stamford Bridge.

TEAMtalk reports that Chelsea and Arsenal have a ‘far better chance’ of signing Palhinha because he’s no longer in Liverpool’s sights for January.

It is explained that the defensive midfielder’s representatives contacted Liverpool, but the Merseyside giants are happy with their own squad.

It means that London heavyweights Chelsea and Arsenal could clash for the 28-year-old’s signature.

Described as “amazing” by Stephen Kelly (BBC Sport), Palhinha is one of the Premier League’s top midfielders right now operating at such a high level. Our feeling is he’s good enough to walk into any of the top clubs in this county and make a positive impact.

It’ll be interesting to see if Chelsea decide to ramp up interest in Fulham’s midfield general after the latest developments.

If you’ve got any doubts about his overall quality, there’s an eyeopening individual statistic from this season via the Premier League’s official website.

Palhinha has made the most tackles in the league so far this campaign (72). Remarkable, second on the list is Tottenham’s Yves Bissouma with 47.

He’s an expert in breaking up play and being a Rolls-Royce in the midfield. We feel someone with his experience and ability could have a huge impact on an inexperienced Chelsea squad.
