Chelsea have now been linked with a move for yet another centre-back.
Apparently, the Blues are looking at Premier League rivals Crystal Palace and really like their defender Joachim Andersen.
The 27-year-old’s established himself as one of the most consistent centre-halves in the division across the past couple of years, forming a fantastic partnership alongside Cobham graduate Marc Guehi. Incidentally, The Sun recently claimed that Chelsea could move to try re-sign Guehi next summer.

New Blues target
Journalist Simon Phillips has reported that Palace’s Andersen is a new player on the Chelsea transfer shortlist.
He said yesterday via Substack: “When I was being told about [Marc] Guehi, we are also watching his Palace teammate Joachim Andersen. He’s another one on the shortlist for Chelsea centre-backs at the moment.”
Chelsea looking at Joachim Andersen
Andersen’s not the kind of high-profile name that may get Chelsea fans overly excited, but he’s put together some really impressive seasons in Palace colours.
At the age of 27, he could be the ready-made defender that could be a great fit at Stamford Bridge.
Described as “outstanding” by Roy Hodgson (The Independent), Andersen may be ready to play at a club with even more pressure than Palace.
The ball-playing centre-back is strong and composed in defence. He’s got a superb range of passing, too.
Interestingly, Newcastle United were scared off signing the Palace star in the summer because of his valuation. The Chronicle reported in August that Palace’s £40million price tag on Andersen scared off interested buyers Newcastle, Tottenham, West Ham and Brentford.
We’d be interested to know how much it would now cost to steal him away from Selhurst Park.
