Chelsea have now made contact with PSG over a deal to sign Leandro Paredes this summer.
That is according to Martin Arevalo of ESPN Argentina.
However, Chelsea aren’t the only side hoping to sign Paredes.
What’s the story?
Well, it is said that Atlético Madrid have also enquired about the Argentina international.
Paredes has spent the 2022/23 campaign on loan at Juventus, although the Italian giants have decided not to pursue a permanent move for the South American.
Nevertheless, Chelsea and Atlético Madrid have expressed a desire to sign the 28-year-old, who PSG are open to selling this summer.
Paredes – who Thomas Tuchel once claimed has ‘good vision’ – cost PSG €40m (£34.7m) when they signed him from Zenit St Petersburg back in January 2019.
Arevalo does not mention a specific fee, although the Argentine is unlikely to cost Chelsea anywhere near that much after his disappointing season at Juventus, and also due to PSG’s desire to sell.
Paredes could reunite with Pochettino at Chelsea
In our view, there is a good chance of Paredes rejecting Atlético Madrid in favour of Chelsea – purely due to the presence of Mauricio Pochettino.
The pair worked together at the Parc des Princes before Pochettino was sacked in July 2022.
Paredes made 46 appearances under his fellow countryman, scoring two goals while also providing six assists.

The San Justo-born maestro seemed to enjoy playing under Pochettino, admitting that he felt confident under his management.
Paredes told TyC Sports: “He has done a lot for me since the day he arrived. He sat down to talk to me. He gave me a lot of peace of mind and confidence, which is the most important thing for a player.”
Therefore, we certainly wouldn’t be surprised to see the pair reunite at Stamford Bridge this summer.
