Chelsea have been linked with a move for Bayern Munich’s Jamal Musiala this week.

That is why recent comments from Blues head coach Mauricio Pochettino about Jamal Musiala now make for very interesting reading.

The Secret Scout reported on X yesterday that Chelsea would love to sign Musiala in the final few days of the summer transfer window. Bayern wouldn’t be keen on selling the 20-year-old attacking midfielder, though.

Pochettino’s comments about Musiala from December last year certainly show he’s a huge fan of his qualities.

The Argentine manager said, as quoted by The Daily Mail: “For me he (Musiala) is one of the best young players in the world with Gavi and Pedri. He’s a massive talent.”

At the age of 20, Musiala already has the kind of CV that nearly all professionals would be delighted to retire with.

He’s won 10 major trophies already during his spell in Bayern’s first team, including four Bundesliga league titles and the Champions League.

With Christopher Nkunku injured right now, Chelsea may be missing that extra creative No 10 to join up with the striker. Admittedly, we’re delighted with how Blues winger Raheem Sterling has started this season.

We can’t imagine Pochettino getting to coach Musiala in the near future, but perhaps this is something Chelsea should consider revising further down the line. For now, the German playmaker is an important figure for Thomas Tuchel’s Bayern side.
