Chelsea see Napoli’s Victor Osimhen as the dream striker target.

That is according to journalist Simon Phillips.

As well as Brentford’s Ivan Toney, Phillips has written on his Substack Si Phillips Talks Chelsea that the Blues are also interested in Victor Osimhen. He claims that they see the 24-year-old as the “dream” centre-forward and could eventually make a move for him.

Chelsea signed Nicolas Jackson in the summer, but all of the links to the likes of Osimhen and Toney suggest that they will try and buy a new striker next year.

Scoring had been a problem for Mauricio Pochettino’s side at the start of the season, but they have looked better in front of goal in their last couple of games.

In their wins against Burnley and Fulham, they were able to find the back of the net six times in total, conceding just once along the way.

Victor Osimhen the dream

Most clubs probably dream about signing a striker like Osimhen. Simply put, the Nigerian is a match-winner.

He fired Napoli to the Serie A title last season and this term, he has already scored six goals in eight league appearances.

The only problem is, few clubs can actually afford Osimhen. Fortunately for Chelsea, though, they are one of them.

The Blues, of course, recently broke their transfer record after signing Moises Caicedo from Brighton & Hove Albion for £115m.

If they can spend that amount of money on a midfielder, how far would Todd Boehly and Co be willing to go to land a No.9 who has the potential to take the club back to the top? It is why we are not ruling anything out.
