Chelsea have set their sights on signing Leeds United’s highly-rated youngster Archie Gray.

Chelsea interest

90min says that Chelsea are among the group of top clubs to recently scout Gray.

It is understood that London rivals Arsenal and Tottenham have watched Leeds’ rising star. Premier League sides Liverpool, Newcastle United and Manchester City are keeping close tabs, too. In addition, Borussia Dortmund representatives have even flown over from Germany this season to watch him.

The report claims that Leeds are not looking to sell their 17-year-old despite the growing interest.

Described as “outstanding” by Leeds boss Daniel Farke (Yorkshire Evening Post), Gray’s reputation is now attracting the big clubs.

This comes after The Daily Mail recently claimed that Leeds would demand between £40million and £50million for Gray.

Archie Gray a big talent

Gray, who’s a product of the Leeds academy, has come through their youth system.

He’s a central midfielder by trade with a big future in the centre of the park, but he’s shown his versatility and quality by stepping into a right-back position in recent games.

If you’ve watched any Championship fixtures this season, you’ll notice that Gray doesn’t look like a boy in a men’s game. Instead, the teenager is extremely mature and disciplined in the Leeds line-up.

We can certainly understand why Chelsea have him on their radar because his profile fits the transfer policy at Stamford Bridge for the last year.

It’s obvious from the recent signings that the Blues will keep bringing in some of the world’s best youngsters to the club. However, journalist Ben Jacobs previously reported via GiveMeSport that Chelsea could make an exception for 27-year-old Brentford striker Ivan Toney in January.
