Chelsea now want more than £43m if they’re to sell their 24-year-old player in January

Chelsea could end up pricing Trevoh Chalobah out of a move to Juventus after naming their price for the defender.

That is according to a report from Italian outlet Calciomercato.

It claims that Juventus are one club who are interested in Trevoh Chalobah but Chelsea want more than €50m (£43.6m) for him, which could prove to be too much for the Old Lady.

Nevertheless, an exit for Chalobah at some point still looks likely, while the Blues could look to bring in a new centre-back if the 24-year-old departs.

He is actually yet to make an appearance this season because of injury.

Trevoh Chalobah should join Juventus or another club

If there is a chance to join Juventus or someone else in January, then Chalobah should take it and we expect him to.

He is not going to get game time at Chelsea this season, with Mauricio Pochettino having the likes of Thiago Silva and Axel Disasi in his ranks to play at centre-back.

At 39, Silva is not getting any younger and could leave Stamford Bridge at the end of the campaign when his contract expires.

However, Pochettino would still have Disasi, Levi Colwill, Benoit Badiashile and Wesley Fofana. Most of those players are younger than Chalobah, so they could block his path into the starting XI for a long time.

When you consider that, an exit for the former England U21 international looks to be in his best interest. He has come through the club’s academy, so he may not want to leave Stamford Bridge. But it would probably be wise for him to.

It is going to take more injuries for Chalobah to get a run in the team, which does not seem impossible when you look at all of the problems Chelsea have had this term. But Chalobah needs to get fully fit himself and by the time he does, Pochettino’s mind could already be made up if it is not already.
