Chelsea now want to bring Anatoliy Trubin to Stamford Bridge – a player who knows Mykhailo Mudryk very well.
That is according to Fabrizio Romano.
So, what are the details involving Anatoliy Trubin and Chelsea? Let’s take a look…
What’s the story?
Well, Chelsea are on the lookout for a new goalkeeper after selling Edouard Mendy to Al-Ahli.
However, Mauricio Pochettino is happy to start the 2023/24 campaign with Kepa Arrizabalaga as his No.1 in between the sticks, so Chelsea are only looking for a younger glovesman who can act as a backup.
As a result, the Blues have identified Trubin.
Speaking on YouTube, Romano said: “Chelsea are seriously considering Kepa as their first goalkeeper, and to sign a second goalkeeper on the market to replace Edouard Mendy, one who can create competition.
“Trubin from Shakhtar is one of the goalkeepers they appreciate. Also, Inter are considering Trubin as an option.”

As aforesaid, the 21-year-old knows Mudryk very well, as the pair represents Ukraine together on the international scene, and were also teammates at Shakhtar Donetsk.
Trubin even joked that the Chelsea No.15 had already joined Arsenal back in January, before the Blues famously swooped in to secure an £88.5m deal.
Trubin idea is a risk for Chelsea
In our view, starting the 2023/24 campaign with Kepa and Trubin would be a very risky move for Chelsea.
The Blues already have a very young backline, including the likes of Wesley Fofana, Levi Colwill and Benoit Badiashile, so Pochettino needs an experienced, commanding goalkeeper behind them.
Kepa has already proven himself not to be that, while it would be a huge ask for Trubin to come into a new country as a 21-year-old and be a powerful presence in goal.

Furthermore, Chelsea have already signed one promising young goalkeeper in Gabriel Slonina, so if the idea is for a prospect to compete with Kepa, surely Pochettino should give the American a chance as understudy to the Spaniard.
Nevertheless, be sure to keep an eye on this situation, as Trubin could be moving to west London soon.
