Chelsea had scouts in attendance for Spain’s 3-1 win against Georgia yesterday.

That is according to a report from 90min.

Spain had a lot of talent on display in their victory, but the report from 90min claims that it was actually a Georgian player who was under the microscope.

Napoli’s Khvicha Kvaratskhelia was the man Chelsea and scouts from other clubs were really focusing on, and he did not disappoint after managing to get his name on the scoresheet.

The 23-year-old winger has made 11 league appearances for Napoli this season and scored three goals.

Do Chelsea need Khvicha Kvaratskhelia?

Chelsea have options out wide right now, with Mauricio Pochettino able to call upon Cole Palmer, Raheem Sterling, Mykhailo Mudryk and Noni Madueke.

When you consider that, you would not say that Kvaratskhelia is a must. However, the Georgia international would be an upgrade on some of those options, so you would not blame Chelsea for making a move for him if an opportunity presented itself.

Last season, he scored 12 goals and provided 10 assists in 34 league appearances as Napoli went on to win the Serie A title, which is really impressive.

“I think I said last week [Kvaratskhelia is] the most exciting player in Europe,” Jamie Carragher said on CBS Sports when speaking about Kvaratskhelia earlier this year.

It is easy to see that the Napoli star is quite a dangerous attacker. He showed last season that he has end product, while his dribbling was fantastic.

According to WhoScored, Kvaratskhelia completed 3.9 dribbles per game in the 2022/23 Champions League, the highest average in his squad.

It would probably be bad news for someone like Madueke, but if Napoli are willing to sell Kvaratskhelia, then Chelsea should consider making a move for him. But again, because they do have Madueke and other wide men, who have impressed this term, he does not have to be a priority for them just yet.
