Chelsea are now willing to offer Arsenal some players in a bid to sign Emile Smith Rowe before Friday’s transfer deadline.

That is according to the Daily Mail.

So, what is the latest on Emile Smith Rowe and Chelsea? Let’s take a look…

What’s the story?

Well, this rumour seemed ridiculous at first – given Smith Rowe’s love of Arsenal and his status as a poster boy for the Gunners.

Now – however – it is generating some momentum.

Firstly, a story from The Times claimed that Arsenal would be willing to sell Smith Rowe after Chelsea made an official approach for the 23-year-old.

Now – according to the Daily Mail – it is said that Chelsea would be willing to negotiate a swap deal with Arsenal, although no names are mentioned in particular.

The article states that Arsenal are against selling Smith Rowe – who Mikel Arteta called an “incredible” player – to Chelsea.

However, the Daily Mail’s story mentions that the Gunners would be willing to cash in on their No.10 if they receive an offer well above market value – something The Times alluded to – so this deal is still possible in the event of a massive bid.

Chelsea wasting precious time on Smith Rowe

In our view, Chelsea have already wasted precious time by even enquiring about Smith Rowe.

Market value for the England international – in this inflated climate – is probably around £60m, meaning Chelsea would presumably have to offer something in the region of around £80m to get the Hale End graduate.

While Smith Rowe is a phenomenal talent, that would be a bizarre use of money, especially as Chelsea are still lacking a world class goalkeeper, and also a top No.9 to compete with Nicolas Jackson.

Nevertheless, Chelsea certainly appear to be fans of the Croydon-born playmaker, so be sure to keep an eye on the situation.
