Chelsea could let Trevoh Chalobah leave Stamford Bridge on loan in the January transfer window.

According to 90min, Chelsea would prefer a permanent sale but would be prepared to let Trevoh Chalobah join another club temporarily if it proves financially beneficial.

The central defender is likely to get little game time if he remains in west London this season.

Mauricio Pochettino has plenty of centre-back options when everyone is fit, including summer signing Axel Disasi and veteran Thiago Silva.

In August, the Evening Standard claimed that Chelsea valued Chalobah at £50m.

Loan move for Trevoh Chalobah

A loan could be a possibility, especially if Chelsea still value Chalobah at £50m. Clubs will be reluctant to spend that kind of money on a player who is not featuring.

They know Chelsea are open to letting the 24-year-old go and will probably try and take advantage of that.

From Chalobah’s perspective, he just needs to get out of Stamford Bridge.

If he gets game time between now and January, then it is a different story. But with all of the other centre-back options that Pochettino has, that seems unlikely.

Chalobah is currently injured, which is why he has not been seen so far this season. But even if the Chelsea academy graduate were fit, you suspect that he would not be playing because of the presence of Silva, Disasi and Levi Colwill.

All in all, then, we would not be surprised if Chalobah left Stamford Bridge permanently or on loan in January.
