Chelsea and other Premier League clubs could have the chance to sign Real Madrid midfielder Toni Kroos.

That is according to a report from the Daily Star.

It claims that Toni Kroos is keen on looking at other opportunities after entering the final year of his contract and that Chelsea are one side who are aware of his situation.

The Blues revamped their midfield in the summer, bringing in Moises Caicedo, Romeo Lavia and Lesley Ugochukwu.

However, Kroos, potentially on a free transfer, could represent a good opportunity for the Blues.

Toni Kroos could leave Real Madrid

With Kroos’ contract expiring next year, it does look like his successful career at Real Madrid could be coming to an end.

He turns 34 in January, but if Chelsea or another club snap him up, they will still be getting an incredible player.

“He’s world class,” Arsenal midfielder Declan Rice told Sky Sports News and the rest of the media when speaking about the German at Euro 2020.

According to WhoScored, Kroos’ pass success rate has been 95.3% this season. Only Eder Militao has a better percentage, though the Brazilian has only played one La Liga game. It shows that the former Germany international is still able to retain possession and control games.

We would still be surprised, though, if Chelsea signed him.

While the Blues may be aware of his availability, as the Daily Star has claimed, Kroos is not the profile of player they have been signing of late.

Chelsea have been going for young players with a lot of potential, as opposed to footballers in their 30s who are coming to the end of their careers.

Does Kroos still have something to offer? The above shows that he still does. But you just cannot see him becoming a target for Chelsea based on their recent signings.
