Chelsea now have a meeting planned with agents to discuss the signing of Napoli talisman Victor Osimhen.

That is according to Sacha Tavolieri.

So, what is the latest on Victor Osimhen and Chelsea? Let’s take a look…

What’s the story?

Well, it seemed as if Chelsea had decided to look at other options, after the Evening Standard claimed that talks were being held over a £30m deal for Nicolas Jackson as a cheaper alternative to the Nigeria international.

That move now looks close to completion after the Senegal international passed a medical.

However – according to Tavolieri – a meeting has now been scheduled with Osimhen’s representatives, with the Napoli No.9 keen on a move to the Premier League.

The 24-year-old conquered Italy in the 2022/23 campaign with 31 goals across all competitions, which ended Napoli’s 33-year wait for a Serie A title.

Osimhen – who Jamie Carragher said looks like he is “going to be a superstar” – has more than repaid the €60m (£52m) Napoli spent to sign him from Lille in 2020.

In fact, Napoli want roughly three times that figure to sell the Nigerian, with Le Parisien claiming that a £155m price tag has been put on his head.

Chelsea not the only club holding Osimhen talks

Chelsea have a fight on their hands here, as they aren’t the only side who have scheduled a meeting with Osimhen’s agents.

Tavolieri adds that Manchester United and Liverpool have also been alerted to the fact Napoli’s prolific frontman wants to play in the Premier League, and have pencilled his agents in for talks.

Of course, Chelsea find themselves at a disadvantage without European football to offer Osimhen.

However, that hasn’t put other targets off so far – such as Moises Caicedo – so the Blues are firmly in this transfer battle as Todd Boehly looks to sign a quality No.9 for Mauricio Pochettino.
