Chelsea are reportedly trying to offload their player to Turkish Super Lig club Fenerbahce.

Chelsea did manage to offload plenty of individuals during a busy summer transfer window, but some players are still stuck at Stamford Bridge after Friday’s deadline day.

Interestingly, despite the Premier League window closing yesterday, there’s still time for some of the lesser European leagues to conduct business. For instance, clubs in Turkey have two weeks still to make new signings because their window shuts on 13 September.

Chelsea icon Jose Mourinho, who currently manages Turkish club Fenerbahce, has been linked with a current Blues star.

Ben Chilwell offered to Fenerbahce

According to GiveMeSport, Chelsea defender Ben Chilwell has been offered to Fenerbahce in this window.

It is explained that the 27-year-old left-back is content staying at Stamford Bridge despite being exiled from Enzo Maresca’s first-team squad. However, a potential move for him to a new club is still being explored.

The report says that Chilwell doesn’t want to leave unless the right opportunity arrives, but a loan deal without a permanent option is the most likely scenario if something happens.

The English full-back isn’t against a switch overseas, with the window still open in the Netherlands and Portugal until 2 September as well.

What Jose Mourinho once said about Ben Chilwell

There’s no suggestion yet that Fenerbahce will take up the offer to sign Chilwell from Chelsea, but it’s worth reflecting on what their manager once said about him.

Speaking via talkSPORT back in 2021, Mourinho did deliver high praise when discussing Chilwell.

Mourinho said: ““I know that he plays normally with Chelsea in a five, but he (Chilwell) is intelligent, he covers the space and the diagonals inside very well, he’s dangerous in attack, he’s good in the air and good on set pieces.”
