Mateo Kovacic’s agents has reportedly landed in England to discuss a potential move to a Premier League rival, with the midfielder expected to leave Chelsea this summer.

According to 90min, the Croatian international’s team are due to speak to the Blues over the possibility of signing a new contract, though Kovacic’s agents now also have meetings scheduled with other top-flight English teams over a potential transfer in the window.

As per the report, Liverpool, Manchester City and Manchester United are all expected to meet with the 28-year-old’s representatives, with Chelsea open to selling Kovacic as Todd Boehly looks to rejuvenate the Blues’ midfield options in the market.

With Kovacic’s contract set to expire in 2024, Chelsea will be making a smart move in offloading the midfielder this summer if the former Real Madrid star doesn’t want to sign a new deal with the west London side, though the Blues could be unwilling to sell the Croat to a Premier League rival.

Indeed, City have found the hard way this season on what happens when you sell fringe players to an English side in Gabriel Jesus and Oleksandr Zinechenko. and Chelsea would be wise to avoid a repeat with Kovacic, who could add a lot of value to a rival team this summer.

Kovacic’s form has been up and down, as has every Chelsea player this season, and for the west London side, they will be hopeful that the midfielder ends up at a team outside of the Premier League, though his agents look set to push for another path.

WIth Kovacic in the prime of his career, it makes sense why the midfielder is being shopped around to other top Premier League sides, and whilst a deal could very easy to pull off, Chelsea will be hoping that the former Madrid star chooses to leave the country rather than join a direct rival.
