Chelsea player's agent says his client would be 'happy' to leave Stamford Bridge this summer

Emerson Palmieri’s agent Fernando Malta has confirmed that his client would be open to leaving Chelsea this summer despite “good relationship” with manager Thomas Tuchel.

The 26-year-old’s situation at Chelsea is quite interesting, to say the least.

Ben Chilwell and Marcos Alonso are both ahead of him in the left wing-back pecking order but Tuchel seems to see the Italy international as an important utility player.

Under the new manager, Emerson has played on the left of the back three, as a left wing-back, and even in the inside forward role in the second-leg win over Atletico Madrid in March.

This might have been the reason why Tuchel kept insisting on having him on the bench despite criticism of leaving out a goalscorer such as Tammy Abraham from matchday squads.

Emerson, however, might not be satisfied with such a limited role and would consider leaving this summer, according to his agent Malta.

“Because of his connection with the national team, he has often been approached by important clubs such as Juventus, Inter [Milan] and Napoli,” the agent told

“When a market window starts, there are always rumours about him.

“Now, Emerson has to focus on the national team.

“This season with Chelsea has been very special. There was a change of coach and he has a great relationship with Tuchel.

“Now, we need to understand what will be the next steps for Chelsea and what will be his future in the next season.

“He had a period in Serie A where he made the leap in terms of quality.

“If all the conditions were there, if there was the ideal scenario, he would be happy.

“Obviously, as an agency, we don’t just focus there. Emerson has attracted attention from other leagues and other big European teams.”

It is safe to say that many Chelsea fans would not be surprised by the agent’s statement and might have even expected it.

Once Tuchel bring in another defender into the squad, either from the transfer market or from the list of on-loan Chelsea players, Emerson could soon become surplus to requirements.

According to a report from Sky Sports, Chelsea are also willing to listen to offers for him and Tammy Abraham this summer.
