Chelsea are prepared to sell Conor Gallagher in January for the right offer.

That is according to well-respected journalist Simon Phillips.

Phillips reported via his Substack this week that Chelsea will listen to offers in the New Year for Conor Gallagher, which is something they did in the summer.

He wrote: “I’m told that the club will still listen to offers for Conor Gallagher in the January window, as they did in the summer. If an offer comes in that they deem good enough, the player could still go with no current contract talks underway.”

Gallagher, 23, has started every single Premier League game this season. In fact, he’s even worn the captain’s armband on occasions when Reece James or Ben Chilwell have not been on the pitch.

The biggest issue is that the midfielder’s contract with the Blues has entered its final two years, which goes against the policy of the current ownership.

He’s obviously a player rated by Blues head coach Mauricio Pochettino, but is that enough for the player to stay for the long-term at Stamford Bridge.

The Athletic reported last week that Gallagher is not currently in active talks with Chelsea about a new contract.

In addition, The Athletic previously said that Chelsea’s owners are more excited by Gallagher’s sell-on potential than his actual quality on the pitch.

The academy graduate would be pure profit on the books for the Blues. However, Pochettino should be given a big say on what happen with the player’s future, especially midway through a season.
