Chelsea could be about to make one of the most surprising signings of the summer transfer window!
Chelsea have really ramped up their transfer activity in recent days, completing the signing of Morgan Rogers from Aston Villa.
Maxence Lacroix is also set to join Chelsea from Crystal Palace, and it looks like the Blues want another experienced Premier League player once that deal is officially announced.
According to Daily Mail journalist Kieran Gill, the Club World Cup winners are interested in signing Danny Welbeck from Brighton & Hove Albion.

Welbeck ticks the experience box for Chelsea at the age of 35 and after making 400 appearances in the Premier League.
Across those 400 games, the Brighton star has scored 90 goals. His potential arrival would likely see a couple of Chelsea’s current centre-forward options leave the club.
Joao Pedro, Liam Delap, Emmanuel Emegha, Nicolas Jackson and Marc Guiu are all still on Chelsea’s books.
Pedro will undoubtedly be Xabi Alonso’s first-choice striker in the upcoming season, meaning that Welbeck would be coming in as a back-up option. Now 35, it is a role that the former Arsenal and Manchester United forward may be willing to accept.
He scored 13 goals in 37 league outings last term so is still capable of finding the back of the net at this level.
