Chelsea have now reignited interest in Theo Hernandez after a surprise development occurred at AC Milan.
That is according to Italian news outlet La Repubblica.
So, what are the details involving Chelsea and Theo Hernandez? Let’s take a look…
What’s the story?
Well, Gerry Cardinale – the American owner of AC Milan’s majority shareholder RedBird – has angered a number of key players after bizarrely choosing to sack Sporting Director Paolo Maldini following a fallout.
The AC Milan legend had been doing a fine job at the San Siro, with his recruitment skills guiding the Italian giants to the Serie A title last season after years out of the limelight.
Now – however – Maldini has been sacked, a decision which has angered Rafael Leao, Mike Maignan and Hernandez according to La Repubblica.

The latter – who has been described as a “machine” by Jonathan Woodgate on The Greatest Game Podcast – is now thinking about leaving AC Milan, with Chelsea interested.
It comes after Calciomercato claimed back in 2022 that Chelsea made an approach for Hernandez, although the France international decided to stay in Milan.
Theo Hernandez not the only AC Milan star who could join Chelsea
Maldini’s departure has truly caused shockwaves at AC Milan, and Chelsea could benefit by pinching two of their best players.
La Repubblica add that Maignan is also considering his future at the San Siro, following a separate story from La Repubblica earlier this week which claimed that Chelsea had made a €60m (£52m) bid for the French goalkeeper.
Therefore, if AC Milan cannot find a way to make Hernandez and Maignan feel differently about the situation at the San Siro, it could push two of Europe’s best players towards Stamford Bridge.
Be sure to keep an eye on the situation at AC Milan, as Chelsea may soon benefit.
