Chelsea are interested in signing Schalke youngster Assan Ouedraogo.
According to TEAMtalk, Chelsea, as well as their Premier League rivals Manchester United, have sent scouts to watch Assan Ouedraogo.
The same outlet also claims that the midfielder will cost at least £15m and that there is a belief that he has the potential to reach Paul Pogba’s level because of his technical ability and passing.

Ouedraogo fits Chelsea’s transfer strategy, with the Blues having mostly signed young players over the last couple of windows.
It looks like there could be a real fight for Ouedraogo’s signature, though.
Assan Ouedraogo the next Paul Pogba
Even if Ouedraogo is the next Pogba, you have to question what Chelsea’s plan is here if their interest in the 17-year-old is genuine.
They bought Moises Caicedo this summer and Enzo Fernandez in January to be their two main midfielders.
Chelsea also own the likes of Romeo Lavia, Carney Chukwuemeka, Lesley Ugochukwu and Andrey Santos, who are far from being pensioners.

It begs the question, then, is there really room for another young midfielder like Ouedraogo at Stamford Bridge? Can Chelsea actually provide a pathway into the first team for him?
These are things that the German youngster also has to consider. And if he does, he may not be too enthusiastic about a move to west London.
Still, because of the money Chelsea have, the size of the club and where it is located, never say never. But we think both parties would be wise to think twice here before doing anything.
