Chelsea continues to be linked with numerous strikers in the transfer rumour mill, so fans will be eager to see if they’ve got someone new leading the line next season.
The reality is that the Chelsea squad is crying out for a prolific centre-forward to join it.
Nicolas Jackson is currently the best striker at Stamford Bridge. However, he’s not an out-and-out goalscorer, netting only nine times in 27 appearances across all competitions so far this season.
It’s been reported that Chelsea can afford a ‘major’ forward signing in the summer window as they look to strengthen their attack.
Ipswich Town star Liam Delap, 22, is one of the individuals linked with a potential move to West London for next season. In fact, it’s been claimed that Chelsea have started speaking with Delap’s representatives about a possible transfer because he’ll be available for £30m if Ipswich are relegated from the Premier league.

Chelsea could focus on Benjamin Sesko if they don’t sign Liam Delap
Journalist Simon Phillips has reported via Substack that Chelsea could turn their attention towards RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko this summer if they don’t sign Ipswich’s Delap.
He claims that the Blues have been ‘seriously considering’ making use of Sesko’s release clause at Leipzig. Apparently, Sesko’s release clause may rise to £66m at Leipzig by the summer.
Phillips adds that Enzo Maresca’s side have initiated contact for the 21-year-old Bundesliga frontman despite initial concerns that he may not suit the style of the Premier League.
The fact that Sesko wants a move to the Premier League ahead of next season makes this transfer race very compelling. On paper, we think he’s got the speed, strength and potential to be a top signing for any English club.

Liam Delap vs Benjamin Sesko
If Chelsea end up with Delap or Sesko in the upcoming transfer window, Blues fans should be pretty encouraged.
It makes for interesting reading when you compare what the two young forwards have done so far this campaign.
| Competition | Appearances | Goals | Assists |
| Premier League | 31 | 12 | 2 |
| FA Cup | 2 | 0 | 0 |
| Carabao Cup | 1 | 0 | 0 |
| Competition | Appearances | Goals | Assists |
| Bundesliga | 28 | 11 | 5 |
| Champions League | 8 | 4 | 0 |
| DFB-Pokal | 4 | 4 | 1 |
In Delap, Chelsea would be buying someone who’s more than held his own in a struggling Ipswich side. The England Under-21 international looks like he could be the long-term successor for Harry Kane on the international stage, too.
As for Sesko, he’s another complete forward shining in first-team football, even scoring goals in the Champions League.
