Chelsea are interested in signing Hoffenheim youngster Max Moerstedt.

That is according to a report from 90min.

Max Moerstedt, who’s still only 17, is a talented prospect on the books at German Bundesliga club Hoffenheim.

However, the teenage striker is still yet to make a first-team debut.

Chelsea transfer interest

90min claims that Chelsea are among the clubs to now set sights on Hoffenheim’s rising star.

It is understood that the Blues are joined by Brighton, Manchester United, Juventus and Atalanta in the race for Moerstedt.

The report says that the 17-year-old is close to a senior breakthrough at Hoffenheim, with his club valuing him as someone with ‘enormous potential’.

Apparently, Premier League suitors really like what they’ve seen from Moerstedt in the last month, where he’s helped Germany win the Under-17 World Cup.

It’s obvious that this is the sort of transfer that ticks a lot of boxes for Chelsea. We’ve seen a huge focus on signing some of the world’s best young talents under this ownership.

Incidentally, journalist Nizaar Kinsella reports on X that Chelsea youngster Leo Castledine may be in Chelsea’s first-team squad tonight versus Manchester United.

Max Moerstedt a future star

On top of his international success with Germany’s youth team, Moerstedt is also impressing at club level.

The 6ft 4in centre-forward has scored 14 goals in just 11 appearances so far this season for Hoffenheim’s Under-19s side.

We’re intrigued to see how long it is before he gets a first-team call-up.

We’ve seen in recent years that the Bundesliga is the perfect home for young superstars to develop and play senior football.
