Since their takeover in 2022, Chelsea have done plenty of business with clubs in the Saudi Pro League.
For example, one year later, Chelsea sold both Edouard Mendy and Kalidou Koulibaly to Al-Ahli and Al-Hilal respectively.
Last summer, the Blues also allowed Joao Felix to join Al-Nassr. It is thought that Cristiano Ronaldo played a role in Felix’s move to Saudi Arabia.
Who has been the worst signing of the Todd Boehly era at Chelsea? 👎
At Al-Nassr, the former Atletico Madrid and Benfica star linked up with another former Chelsea player, Angelo Gabriel.

Tottenham made enquiry for Angelo Gabriel in final days of transfer window
Angelo left Chelsea for Al-Nassr in 2024 in a £19m deal, but it looks like he could have returned to the Premier League during the winter transfer window.
According to TEAMtalk, Chelsea’s London rivals Tottenham Hotspur enquired about signing Angelo shortly before the market closed.
In the end, a formal bid never materialised, but with the winger on Spurs’ radar, maybe he could join them in the summer.
Not good enough for Chelsea 😤
Or are we missing something?
While Tottenham looked at an attacker in the final days of the January transfer window, Chelsea were keen on a defender.
Chelsea did target Jeremy Jacquet, but the Frenchman signed for Liverpool instead. It means he will get the chance to go up against both Liam Rosenior and Thomas Frank next season.

Why Chelsea would have left Angelo Gabriel heartbroken
Being a young talent from Brazil, moving to Europe to play for one of the world’s biggest clubs in Chelsea would have been a dream come true for Angelo.
Yet that dream quickly became a nightmare. Angelo never played a single minute of football for the Blues before being shipped off to Saudi Arabia.
During his time at Chelsea, Angelo did at least get a loan spell at Strasbourg, helping him to gain some experience in European football.
It will now be interesting to see if he returns to the continent, with the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium potentially being a destination for him. Angelo will be hoping to make the same kind of impact as compatriot Estevao Willian if he does join Spurs or another Premier League side.
