Al Ittihad striker Karim Benzema is definitely someone on Chelsea’s radar this month.
That is according to the latest transfer speculation this week.
Karim Benzema, who’s now 36, is one of the greatest attackers of the 21st century.
The Frenchman may now be entering the twilight of his career, but he’s someone that scored a staggering 352 goals in 648 appearances for Real Madrid.
A recent report from The Telegraph suggested that Chelsea may have to consider signing Benzema on a short-term deal in the January window.
Now, ESPN has published an update on the potential Blues interest.

ESPN claimed yesterday that Chelsea are one of multiple teams to show an interest in signing Benzema this January.
It is explained that the legendary centre-forward is exploring his options this month after an underwhelming six months in the Saudi Pro League.
The report explains that Al Ittihad don’t want to lose their 36-year-old high-profile star, but Jordan Henderson is currently on the verge of exiting Saudi Arabia to join Dutch giants Ajax.
In addition, Benzema is not expected to seal a return to Spanish heavyweights Real Madrid. A possible first stint in England with a Premier League club is an option, though.
Chelsea interested in Karim Benzema
Of course, Benzema would only be a short-term answer. However, it would be an amazing sight to see him in Chelsea colours.
His addition would go against the youth project under the Blues ownership, but we think most fans would agree this squad needs some more sprinkling of experience.
But could the superstar name still score goals at the top level after his stint in Saudi Arabia?
Let’s recall that he’s a player that Jose Mourinho has waxed lyrical about in the past.
Mourinho described Benzema as a “phenomenal footballer” back in 2022 in an interview with L’Equipe, as quoted by Get Football News France.
Incidentally, Benzema scored 78 goals during the 150 games he played for Madrid when Mourinho was his manager between 2010-13.
