Chelsea remain interested in agreeing a deal to sign Spanish wonderkid Gabri Veiga from Celta Vigo this summer.
That is according to the Daily Mail – who also share an intriguing update on the midfielder’s agent.
So, what is the latest on Gabri Veiga and Chelsea? Let’s take a look…
What’s the story?
Well – according to the Express – Chelsea are keeping a close eye on the Celta Vigo No.24 as Mauricio Pochettino prepares to replace Mason Mount.
Now – as detailed by the Daily Mail – Veiga is being represented by Pini Zahavi, an agent who has a close relationship with Chelsea.
The 79-year-old has already negotiated closely with Chelsea over the past 12 months as he represents Christopher Nkunku, who officially sealed his £53m move to Stamford Bridge last week.

Veiga is believed to have a £30m release clause written into his contract, and is also attracting interest from Liverpool after an outstanding season with Celta Vigo.
The 21-year-old impressively scored 11 goals and provided four assists in 36 La Liga appearances, with a double against Barcelona on the final day helping Celta Vigo avoid relegation by the skin of their teeth.
Chelsea could sign Gabri Veiga quite easily
In our view, a deal to sign Veiga – who Carlo Ancelotti called a “quality” footballer – could be quite straightforward for Chelsea.
The Spain Under-21 international hasn’t been playing European football with Celta Vigo, so he is unlikely to be fussy about Chelsea’s failure to qualify for any UEFA competition for the 2023/24 campaign.
Veiga – as aforesaid – also has a fixed release worth £30m, which is a very reasonable figure in today’s market and a sum Chelsea can afford to spend.
In our view, the Blues should move to get this deal wrapped up quickly, as it seems simpler than the signings of Romeo Lavia, Amadou Onana or Moises Caicedo, other midfielders who have been strongly linked to Chelsea.

That is not to say that one or two of those names shouldn’t be signed in addition to Veiga, as Chelsea need depth with N’Golo Kante, Mateo Kovacic and Ruben Loftus-Cheek leaving west London.
Snapping up the Spaniard first would help add that depth to Pochettino’s midfield department, and also take the pressure off of Chelsea during negotiations to sign Lavia, Onana or Caicedo.
Be sure to keep an eye on this situation, as Chelsea could soon trigger Veiga’s release clause.
