Jamie Gittens and Jorrel Hato have not got off to an amazing start at Chelsea following their moves to the club in the summer.

Gittens joined Chelsea from Borussia Dortmund, while Hato arrived from Ajax. The latter was a necessary signing, with there being a lack of cover for Marc Cucurella.

However, he has started just one Premier League game so far, while Gittens has managed one more than his teammate.

Enzo Maresca has made it clear, though, that Hato needs time to adapt. The defender is still just 19 years of age.

Jorrel Hato could leave Chelsea on loan

Hato may not actually get time to adapt to English football this season, with the full-back already being linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge.

According to one report from Soccernews, a loan move to an Eredivisie club is not being ruled out.

Hato returning to the Netherlands would put Chelsea back in the situation they recently got themselves out of.

Again, the Blues had no real cover for Cucurella last term and addressed that over the summer by bringing in Hato.

The Spaniard played too many games last season, making 54 appearances in all competitions. If Hato joins a club on loan in January, Cucurella could be in for a similar campaign.

Hato made his full Chelsea debut against Brentford earlier this month but was taken off at half-time after struggling in the London derby.

Jorrel Hato busy during Lincoln tie

Despite being League One opposition, Lincoln City were not exactly an easier test than Brentford for Hato.

Michael Skubala’s side kept Hato and the rest of Chelsea’s defence very busy on the night. As per Sofascore, the Netherlands international had to make eight clearances.

At least Cucurella was able to get a bit of rest before being brought on in the 70th minute. It would be good, then, if Chelsea were able to keep hold of Hato for the remainder of the campaign, but minutes in the Carabao Cup will not be enough to keep the former Ajax man satisfied.
