Chelsea got to see first-hand what Liam Delap is capable of after taking on Ipswich Town on Monday.
Enzo Maresca‘s side lost 2-0, with Liam Delap managing to get his name on the scoresheet after dispatching a first-half penalty.
He played well overall and showed why Chelsea are interested in his services. Last month, it was claimed that Chelsea were talking to Ipswich about signing Delap.
The striker has now responded to the speculation surrounding his future, which may interest Blues supporters.

Liam Delap ignoring interest
For now, Delap is not thinking about rumours linking him to Chelsea and other clubs. Instead, the 21-year-old is just focusing on Ipswich.
When asked if he had been able to block out all of the noise about him potentially leaving Portman Road, Delap told Suffolk News: “Yes, I don’t really look at things like that. So, yes, I’m just focused on Ipswich.”
While Chelsea may be in the market for a centre-forward, they could probably do with another central defender as well after failing to contain Delap.
An experienced centre-half like Ruben Dias could be perfect for Chelsea, with the Manchester City star thought to be of interest to the Blues.
Chelsea could not live with Liam Delap
If Delap was trying to make a point against Chelsea on Monday, then he did just that.
Again, the Englishman put in a top performance. The Blues’ backline could just not deal with him on the night.
Delap finished the game with four shots on target and three aerial duels won out of the four he contested.
It was a complete centre-forward display as the England U21 international held up the ball, competed against Chelsea’s centre-halves and tested Filip Jorgensen on multiple occasions.
| Liam Delap vs Chelsea | Total |
| Minutes played | 89 |
| Goals | 1 |
| Assists | 1 |
| Penalties won | 1 |
| Shots on target | 4 |
| Key passes | 1 |
| Aerial duels (won) | 4 (3) |
While Delap managed to impress, his counterpart did not. Christopher Nkunku really failed to make an impression after being brought into the starting XI.
Chelsea take on Crystal Palace next, their first game of 2025, and you would expect Maresca to recall Nicolas Jackson for that fixture.
