Chelsea believe they may be able to sign Lyon’s Rayan Cherki this summer for a bargain transfer fee.

That is according to a report from 90min.

They claim that Chelsea have now made contact with French club Lyon to begin talks about a potential move for Rayan Cherki.

It is understood that Cherki, who’s just 19, is a player that has impressed Blues officials for a long time now.

The report says that Lyon have put a €50million (£43million) price tag on their young attacking midfielder. Chelsea reckon they can strike a deal for around €35million (£30million), though.

In our view, Cherki could be a potential bargain at £30million this summer. Therefore, we would like Chelsea to press ahead with the deal and make their intentions clear during ongoing negotiations.

We do need to focus on adding some more quality in the centre of the park, but this Cherki transfer looks a really tempting one to pursue.

Lyon’s teenage playmaker is so enjoyable to watch with his quick dribbling and close control in the final third.

The France Under-21 international is still very much a young talent with lots of developing to do, but there’s so much raw potential for a top club to unlock.

We’ve got to be careful overloading the first-team squad with too many stars for the future. Our guess is the Lyon’s 19-year-old is already good enough to make an impact in the Premier League, though.

Cherki has already received some glowing praise in his short career from some names within the game.

For example, Lyon manager Laurent Blanc described Cherki as “very talented” earlier this year (Get Football News).

Meanwhile, Frank Leboeuf told ESPN this week that Cherki is currently one of the most skilful players on the planet.

We would love to see him lighting up Stamford Bridge with his flair, something which has been missing in West London since the Eden Hazard days.
