Chelsea will reportedly have to cough up another big sum in the transfer market if they want to sign Atletico Madrid’s Joao Felix on a permanent basis.

The Blues ownership has really flexed their muscles in the past two transfer windows with massive investment to try to build a squad for now and the future.

Felix, 23, was one of Chelsea’s January recruits to try bolster the group mid-season.

The Portuguese attacker has joined from Atletico on loan until the summer, but will he have a long-term future in west London?

Joao Felix future

According to the Evening Standard, Atletico Madrid would likely demand between £70million-£80million to sell Felix in the summer.

Chelsea have invested heavily rebuilding the squad in the past 12 months, so would they be willing to pay up to £80million for another individual? Let’s see how he gets on in the second half of the season during his loan.

Felix has only played one game so far for the Blues, which was ended prematurely by a reckless red card. It’s fair to say the fanbase were still very encouraged by his opening hour as a Chelsea player, so there’s big excitement about his return from suspension this Saturday against West Ham.

Described as “talented” by Kalidou Koulibaly, Felix has the capability to ignite a forward line that’s struggling.

He’s a versatile striker that can play several different attacking roles. Hopefully, he can bring some much-needed goals to the XI.

The early signs are that Felix is loving life at Stamford Bridge.

When discussing Chelsea in an interview with AS this week, Felix said: “It is a great club, as we all know. The structures are very, very good, they have everything.”

It looks like this could be a really good match between all parties, but let’s see how it unfolds in the months ahead.
